Today, I Broke the Cycle

Turning negative energy into physical and mental power

“`

Blessings, beautiful souls.

This morning began the way many of my mornings do—with
prayer, gratitude, and my hill run-down.

I prayed. I gave thanks. I moved my body. But afterward, I could feel something beginning to rise inside me.

The overwhelm.

The negative thoughts.

The heaviness.

That familiar emotional weight that can come with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and simply carrying too much for too long.

I started texting about how overwhelmed I felt. And normally, I know what happens next.

“`

“`

“Normally, this is where I begin to cry. But today, I recognized the cycle—and I chose to interrupt it.”

I Recognized the Pattern

There is nothing wrong with crying. Tears have carried me through some of the hardest seasons of my life. They have been part of my grieving, my healing, my surrender, and even my conversations with God.

But this morning, I realized something.

I wasn’t just feeling an emotion. I was beginning to enter a familiar pattern.

I could feel myself moving toward the same place my thoughts had taken me before.

And today, something inside me said:

GET UP.

So I did.

I picked up my kettlebell.

I grabbed my dumbbells.

And instead of allowing all of that energy to remain trapped inside my thoughts, I moved my body.

Rep by rep.

Breath by breath.

Movement by movement.

I gave that energy somewhere else to go.

I Turned the Energy Into Power

Something began to shift.

The circumstances hadn’t magically disappeared. The things that had overwhelmed me were still things I would have to face.

But I changed what I was doing with the energy.

Instead of allowing it to pull me deeper into my thoughts, I turned it into physical movement.

And that physical movement began creating mental strength.

I turned negative energy into physical and mental power.

I Rise and Roar

Breaking the Cycle Doesn’t Mean I Never Feel It

I think this is important.

Breaking a cycle does not mean negative thoughts will never come again.

It doesn’t mean grief suddenly disappears.

It doesn’t mean I will never experience anxiety, stress, sadness, or moments when life feels like too much.

For me, breaking the cycle means I am learning to recognize what is happening before I automatically follow the same emotional road.

It means learning that I can feel something deeply without allowing that feeling to make every decision for me.

Sometimes breaking the cycle looks like getting off the couch.

Sometimes it looks like putting the phone down.

Sometimes it looks like stepping outside and breathing.

Sometimes it looks like praying.

Sometimes it looks like picking up a kettlebell and saying:

“`

“`

“I know where this thought usually takes me.
Today, I am choosing another direction.”

“`

One Different Choice

Today wasn’t about pretending everything was okay.

It wasn’t about running away from my emotions.

And it certainly wasn’t about telling myself that strong women don’t cry.

I have cried many tears on this healing journey, and I know there will probably be more.

Today was simply about recognizing that I had another choice available to me.

I could pray.

I could breathe.

I could move.

I could redirect.

I could choose again.

And today, I chose differently.

That may seem like a small victory to someone else.

But when you’ve lived through grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, loss, and seasons where simply getting through the day required strength you didn’t know you had, you learn not to dismiss the small victories.

Sometimes one different choice becomes the beginning of a different pattern.

And sometimes that is how healing happens.

Not all at once.

But one intentional choice at a time.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, Help Me Break the Cycle

Lord, thank You for meeting me in the places where my thoughts become heavy.

Thank You for reminding me that I can acknowledge what I feel without allowing it to consume me.

Give me wisdom to recognize the cycles that no longer serve the woman You are calling me to become.

When my mind feels overwhelmed, teach me to pause.

Teach me to pray.

Teach me to breathe.

Teach me to move.

Teach me to redirect my thoughts toward what gives life.

Help me transform what weighs on me into wisdom, strength, discipline, and purpose.

Remind me that healing does not require perfection. Sometimes it simply requires the courage to choose differently in the next moment.

I surrender my thoughts, my grief, my fears, my stress, and everything I cannot control into Your hands.

Strengthen my mind, strengthen my body, and strengthen my spirit as I continue becoming who You created me to be.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Affirmation

I am allowed to feel.
I am learning to recognize my patterns.
I have the power to choose my next response.
I can redirect my energy.
With God, I can break cycles one choice at a time.

“`

Beautiful soul, if you are carrying something heavy today, remember this:

You don’t have to solve your entire life this morning.

Maybe your victory today is simply recognizing the cycle.

Maybe it’s taking a walk.

Maybe it’s praying before reacting.

Maybe it’s calling someone you trust, resting, journaling, exercising, or getting the support you need.

Whatever your next healthy step looks like, don’t underestimate the power of choosing differently—even once.

Today, I broke the cycle.
Tomorrow, I will choose again.

“`

“`

I am still healing. I am still becoming.

And by the grace of God, I am learning how to rise differently.

I Rise and Roar 🦁

A gentle note: Movement can be one helpful tool for managing difficult emotions, but you do not have to carry depression, anxiety, grief, or overwhelming stress alone. Seeking support from a qualified mental health professional, healthcare provider, trusted loved one, or faith community can also be an important part of healing.
